WSB degenerates make some noise but can't move a stock like that. It was other hedge funds with big money and inside information

My take too.

The question is though, have you actually looked at the number of people that are participating in this and the average amount invested?

If we look at robinhood (13 million users), TD ameritrade, etc, how many retail traders do you think there are? Lets ball park it at roughly twice that: 25 million retail traders.

If the baseline random participation based on news and word of mouth is 1%, and thats a reasonable estimate, thats 250,000 people pushing it.

Assuming the 80/20 principle, 50,000 users are responsible for the move, with 80% of the investment.

The other 200,000 are responsible for only 20% of the move.

And unless we forget, Gamestop, is valued at what, 52 billion? How much of that is just demand and the call on friday?

Value on paper as it were.

How many people are gonna anticipate they don't come through? How many are gonna get off the elevator before the top?

If a lot of them got in at lets say an average of $150, thats means it only requires a fraction of the current valuation to push it up to its current price, rather than the huge numbers some people may be thinking.

While I don't think the move started as organic, it does look organically driven. Someones exploiting the crowd of course, but when you have that many people its more like steering a herd than steering a car. It doesn't always stop on a dime or go where you want it to go.

And if thats the case, I think someone massively overplayed their hand, on both the shorts and the squeeze.

Like whipping a tiger at a circus a little too much and instead accidentally scaring the elephants into a stampede.
