Unfortunately, our vid8 storage host experienced a massive corruption, a few months ago, on their raid arrays, which resulted with the inability for old videos uploaded on vid8 to be recovered (including backups).
If you want to reupload the missing videos files, you can send me a PM about the vid8 video links you want to be restored, along with links where I can download the related missing video files. I'll put them back in place in their respective folders with the correct names.
I have since been doing (on my own expenses) a daily local mirror backup of everything new that is uploaded on vid8. So if something similar happens again, I'll have the ability to restore everything with no loss (or maybe just the last few recent video uploads that weren't backup yet).
Thank you very much for that information and your efforts to protect what gets uploaded from getting lost again!
Before your comment earlier today about old uploads being lost/corrupted and unable to be restored, the last I had heard on the matter was a while ago noting that videos were gradually being restored. As none of my old ones had ever gotten restored, I wasn't sure what the situation was anymore.
Considering there were so many videos lost, I was hoping for a way for us to restore the videos we want restored ourselves. I don't like the idea of dumping the task onto you so you would need to take the time to manually restore videos to pages, especially since many videos aren't worth the time and effort for you to manually refresh.
I will likely re-upload the majority of my uploads again as new uploads and delete the dead uploads as I do. However, a couple of them might be better off taking you up on your offer to manually restore to the existing upload pages. I appreciate that offer and I will try to be very selective to limit how many, if any, videos I may ask you to manually renew for me.
Hopefully others that might take you up on your offer of manually restoring videos would also be as discriminating on if it would be worth your time for you to manually restore versus them just deleting the old and re-uploading themselves.
Thank you very much again, AOU!
No worries, we can do this gradually, by prioritizing the videos with the most views.
Encountering an issue again relating to uploading a video.
I just deleted an old, dead upload of mine: https://vid8.poal.co/user/Khro_/FNA647k It was titled saying Trump complains kikes control of congress that they rightfully deserve.
It deleted fine and then I tried to re-upload the video as a new upload. I used the same name for this new upload as the old upload used to have, which should be an issue as the old upload no longer exists.
It now gives me an error that the video I am trying to upload already exists, despite that I've already deleted the other video.
It doesn't seem there should be an issue. I don't know what I am doing wrong.
