Minor, but curious bug. When loading any page on Vid8, the page title includes a random video duration added after the page title.

e.g When viewing my Notifications page:

Notifications [0:59] html head meta <meta name="og:title" content="Notifications [0:59]">

At first I thought perhaps the duration being shown was whatever the duration was of the most recent video to be uploaded to vid8, that perhaps that video's duration was somehow being populated out to all page titles. That does not seem to be the case.

I don't see any relationship between the duration shown and videos recently uploaded or at the top of any of the 'Popular' lists.

The duration shown does change occasionally, though I am not sure if it is a consistent change every X minutes, or what the triggering effect may be.

It could be related to whenever a video is uploaded, or even as obscure as whenever a 'reaction' is given to a video and that video's duration populates to all other pages. I have no idea.

It might be that it changes every 10 minutes to a different duration shown as it just changed after about that length of time passing. However, it now changed to:

Notifications [] <meta name="og:title" content="Notifications [undefined]">

  • Occurs when viewing Vid8 pages while logged in and not logged in.
  • Occurs in Waterfox as well as Ungoogled Chrome. I suspect it may also occur in other browsers.
  • Only tested when viewing from a desktop. I did not check if this occurs when viewing Vid8 from a mobile device.

Nice. It's very minor, but it got me curious enough to look at it closer and then post about it. Thank you.
