When hovering above a thumbnail (.preview-image) on Vid8, the brightness is increased to 1.25 using JavaScript, despite it would have been possible using CSS :hover.

What is the benefit of using JavaScript for it?

That's how Nodetube was coded before we forked it for vid8.

The answer is that I'm not really a frontend person so who knows lmao. If you submit a PR that makes more sense I can merge it.
