BitChute had such feature (d2.alternativeto.net) until circa 2018.

Another video platform called Vlare.TV has that feature too.

I suggest Vid8 to introduce such a feature.

Not essential, but if a video goes viral, it would be nice to know how many other people are watching it at the moment.

You can check with Nodetube's dev @anthony_newtube in /s/NodeTube if that feature is planned.

Yeah it's a really great idea, actually that functionality exists already for the livestreaming functionality so I was considering dropping a 'live amount of viewers' and perhaps also a live chat on every upload lol. I think it would be pretty trivial, but I agree that is a sexy feature to see how many people are viewing at the same time I'll add it to the Github issues right now

Poal's minichat runs on socket.io and redis.
