Create your own Vid8 instance in just minutes following our tutorials

How do I access these tutorials?

[–] 3 pts

https://github.com/mayeaux/nodetube should have everything you need. The gentleman that created the software has been extremely helpful.

What's the url again? vid8.com ? vid8.org ? vid8.co?

It's stupid but I can't find the right one eh :/

vid8.poal.co

Sounds like something that should be under the "Other Services by Poal.co" tab

[–] 3 pts

It probably should and once its really finished and ready it will be.

One last question; is there a video format/particular encoding settings that fits right in, like it doesn't get reencoded, or are every uploaded videos systematically reencoded or not reencoded at all?

[–] 2 pts

Remind me to answer this tomorrow.

Most .mp4 formats will not be re-encoded as long as they are below the bitrate set by the instance host and also compatible with web browsers. Some mp4 uploads are converted because of incompatible codecs.

Thx

Do you plan on adding monetization options? Like, idk, affiliate programs/banners users can add themselves on channel page or whatever

[–] 2 pts

I do plan on that. However I have a lot of work to do before that happens.

Maybe a video will reach a million views in a few years.

(I wonder what the most viewed video on BitChute is.)

But live streaming is something not even BitChute has.

Also, you could consider adding an annotation feature in future. It is one of many features removed from YouTube (en.everybodywiki.com).

I can talk to the developer about I'm sure he already has something like that in the works.

I hadn't considered it but I'm happy to work with a FOSS developer on it.
