I've always read not to fill them to much, is that true?

oh yeah, i built this a couple years ago. it boots up in like seconds. If im into a game I put on there, loads in seconds... never going back.. i mean my pc isnt top shelf but its pretty good. I hardly game anymore anyways but i can run anything max out.

its a samsung 850 EVO 500 gigs... holy shit, i just checked the price, they really went down in price i paid like over 200 for it, amazon has it for 100 now

fucking way worth it, i should almost buy another...

From my experience with hundreds of SSD's, they slow down when filled to about 90% of capacity. As a rule, when replacing a hard drive, I use an SSD that is at least 240-GB, or when there is a lot of data, double the total size used on the existing hard drive. Most people only have 40 to 80-GB used on their computers storage drive. If you write to them a lot, it's best to have addtional capacity on an SSD as the individual cells can only take, typically, 3000 to 10,000 writes. There are no limits to how many times a cell can be read. Always disable hibernation and turn off indexing of file contents to help the drive last for many years.

mine is just over half fill filled i just have win10 and a few programs on it. then a few normal drives for storage.

Always disable hibernation and turn off indexing

i think i remember reading that, its been a couple years... I should check to make sure it wasnt switched back on. thanks

If it is, right mouse click on the Start button. Select Windows PowerShell (Admin). Type powercfg -h off. Tap the enter key, you're done.
