They like to claim its designed or engineered in the US, but they send their IP over to china for the manufacturing process and then import and charge you basically what it would cost to make in the US.
The chinese almost always steal the IP and make the product under some nonsense brand name though and they sell it for a fraction of the price. A lot of times the chinese version is basically indistinguishable from the original product, although shortcuts and cheaper raw materials are used to cut cost on the product internals. The bulk of the cost savings largely comes from the massive scale of product.
In a lot of cases it makes more sense to by the chinese version of shit since it all comes from the same source.

There are some that can have a custom OS installed (not meta based though). I don't know their quality level but I would consider some if I could fully control them and they didn't send data off to the mothership I would not mind having a personal "body cam" for when you have a chimpout happen near you.

Oh that would be great for so many things. Some bitch tries to hit on me and then gets bitter when I reject her, so she claims I assaulted her. It would be nice to have a video showing her to be a liar. Not having to worry about always needing a witness around me. For driving they would be great because if I am ever in an accident, the video would show what I was looking at and how ofter I shoulder checked etc. If I have to be in a fight, it would show the other guy was the agggressor.

Yeah, that is kind of what I was thinking. The problem is that I can't trust any company and I need to be able to audit the Firmware/OS/APP/Etc. Store data (not on cloud) etc..
