Not the first time tbh, my old PC used ASRock board that had dual DDR2 and DDR3 slots, plus the socket supported AM2 and AM2+, it worked great. They're kinda good at these niche specialty boards for freaks (like me).

So the idea is that if you're rich, you can use a pair of DDR5 in the two slots. If you're poor or already have some DDR4, you can start with a single stick of that. Interesting.
