I think this morning makes that obvious. Also, Don't run on a major cloud provider if you don't need to either (AWS, Azure, GCP, etc).

This demonstrates again a simple fact: if you put your site behind a centralized service, then that service can take your site down together with half the internet.
Most people use Cloudflare because they have been scared into the idea that you need DDoS protection. Well, maybe you do, but probably you don't.
