Omg! What blasts from the past! Altavista was still the best search engine, but that was totally later on! In the early 90s, I just dialed into local-ish BBSes, some of which had newsgroup feeds, which was the closest thing to "internet" that us mere mortals had access to back then!
That was porn for me. Took like a minute on our telephone lines to download a 100k image and that was pretty crappy also since the good jpeg compressions where not out yet. I think low res bmp's were the norm for me.
Oh yeah, but animated GIFs or something pretty much like them where where it was AT back then!
