When people use that phrase, it usually means they're not sorry. You're not sorry. And you're right. This is a nice tech demo but it doesn't come close to being anything like a real guitar. The closest it may come, is when it gets smashed into a drum set on stage. It's bereft of all the subtleties that the string-and-fretboard system makes possible. Probably can't even do dynamic volume. Guitar to MIDI converters have existed for decades. In my limited experience, some are shitty, some are very shitty with a lot of delay to boot. Casio once even made a MIDI guitar outright (shitty). Don't want to shit on the creator at all. It's a cool project and he probably learned a lot doing it, as you do. It's still not a guitar, it's a keyboard with an awkward UI.
