It's not that hard! Put a fucking SDR just after the antenna. You're away from the noise of all the electronics, plus you get AM, FM, DBA in any format you want.
As a bonus, everything is "streaming".

Most likely, the demodulator in the radio is already SDR. There's no reason a modern car radio couldn't be DC-Daylight.
