The article says that their plane would have a top speed of around 60 mph. It made zero mention of the range of these aircrafts, nor the charging times amd said nothing about the batteries. I assume they are lithium batteries, which are banned from being checked into conventional airplanes right now. Current airlines run a tight business as it is with flights going over 500 mph, landing and then getting refueled and inspected while the planes are unloaded and loaded up again. The planes are only making money when they are in the air. Imagine how much harder it would be to make money as an airline when the planes are 7-8 times slower, have a much shorter range, and need a long time to recharge the batteries. They really are dumb if they thought they could be competitive with something that is worse in every way.
