I get why companies done just OSS things that they EOL. However, It would be pretty fucking cool if they did. I am betting a ton of the reasons why are other licensing constraints, NDA's etc.. It sucks that hardware can be bricked because some jackass wants a NDA to last for 50 years.

100% It should almost be a law for this kind of stuff. If you decide to abandon hardware you are required to release enough info that it can be re-flashed "jailbroken" so that users can re-purpose it.

They claim to all be into keeping E-waste out of the landfill, this would serve that purpose 100x over.
