uP = Microprocessors. National Semiconductor bought Cyrix around 1996-1997. I was supporting their uP and SoC (system on a chiip) products. The uP wars were real and intense, we were competing with AMD and Intel uPs back when the fastest were in the 200Mhz to 400Mhz range. We were briefly neck and neck with them but stumbled at 366Mhz. Ended up selling Cyrix off.
