It's fine to buy a "smart" tv. Just never let it connect to the internet. Yeah, I know a lot of you can't do the "connect it to my house but not the internet" but it is worth the time to figure it out.

If there is enough interest, Ill make a new sub just to teach people how to not have to connect shit to the internet or to use the "cloud".

Let me know if that is something you want. It is really not that hard as long as you have a couple of brain cells to rub together.

If I wanted to watch video on a living room TV I would get a regular TV, setup a PC with a wireless keyboard and mouse and connect that to the TV. Setting up a home media server and a local‐only subnetwork for the TV is more complicated and you’re also rewarding some crappy company by paying for its smart TV features.
