The price tag is enough to do that.

This whole article reads like an ad for all the smaller features of AirPods. So what if the counterfeits don't have every little magnetic feature? The point is to not pay a lot for them. There was a recent video with about USB-C cables (Adam Savage, the Myth Busters guy) that was also X-rays of cables and comparing everything to Apple's cable, also a subtle ad.
