What was wrong with a camera pointed at people's faces, if you want to see them when talking?

Nothing's wrong with that. But the difference is that when you are talking to a phone, you are conscious that you are talking to the phone and the other person is on the other side of their phone on their side. In this new paradigm, the phone is gone and you are just face to face with the other person. You know they are not in the same room as you, but the communication is much more directly to that other person, rather than talking to a phone. At least, that was my take on it. I'm new to the technology.

So you can move around physically? That would make it more direct than seeing video.
