Having a Pi-hole on your network is easy and cheap and is great for blocking the majority of ad's, trackers, etc.

Still not a bad idea to use a VPN of some sort but it is a lot better than nothing.

Ive been running a pihole on a 1st gen raspberry pi for years now. Its great for blocking mobile and app based ads

Just make sure that anyone who needs it can access the web interface to "pause" the blocking. There are a few random websites that basically become unusable because they have so many fucking trackers/cdn's/internet aids.

Given enough time you can whitelist only exactly what you need to but it is one of the only annoyances.

Ahh, Well it wont block porn or such but it will block advertisements and trackers. You can add websites to a block list too. I think either the older version (or maybe the new beta) will even allow you to block things device-by-device.

Im fairly sure that AdGuard Home can do that if pi-hole can't yet.

I prefer AdGuard Home, but Pi-Hole is ok.
