We supported the Patriot Missile project in the 1980s. The "Gate Array" semiconductor devices consisted of about 110 large devices with 64 pins that were essentially arrays of digital gates. If you looked closely at the die, there was an alligator drinking a cocktail with umbrella in it, sitting in a beach chair wearing a t-shirt that said "Ray" on it in the corner of the die. Those designers had a sense of humor.

Gate Array ===> "Gator Ray"

As you'd expect it's a differential amplifier. In the die shot it looks like the two beefy outputs are on the left, GND1 second from top left. Inputs upper-right, latch enable lower-right. V- looks to be bottom center, V+ top center. GND2 would then be top-left.

Whole thing in a ceramic package. Those were so neat. Seems like most had gold-plated pins as well.
