The method they show is how I discharge old LiIon batteries completely before disposal. Take a 5 gallon bucket, fill it with hot water and add a couple cups of salt. Dissolve, and dump 'em in. If they have any charge they'll start fizzing and oxidizing the salts. Leave them for a week or so and they're fully discharged.
