R9 3900X looks great for gaming / CAD(D) / 4k video editing

12 cores overclocked to 4.8 GHz / 4.9 GHz.

I don't game as much as I did when I was younger and even then that being very close to 5.0 GHz it would do just fine in that category. When it comes to CAD(D) software or 4k video editing that's an impressive chip for it's performance and price point.

Given issues I've seen historically with AMD, I'm gonna wait to see any issues with software compatibility and chip set quirks. Gen 1 and 2 were Rockstars but you never know

INB4, but muh single core performance.

I mean until recently that was a legitimate argument. Now the majority of games use at least 2 cores, some many more. I'm not rushing out to buy AMD, but my next upgrade will be in a year or two and I'll be keeping an eye on them. AMD writes the worst drivers ever for their GPUs, so I'm wary of their CPUs.
