This is not a new idea. IIRC, the Bene Tleilax called them an "axlotl tank" and could use them reproduce a living human being from the cells of a cadaver, producing type of clone called a ghola. (Ghola. Hmmm..., that sounds kind of familiar somehow...)
The really big downside was that forcible conversion into these breeding tanks was what happened to all of the female Tleilaxu, since no Tleilaxu females had ever been seen. No more Tleilaxu pussy for anybody anymore, anywhere, ever.
Even in fiction these things seldom turn out well.

Because it's shit like that that makes them the bad guys.
Just ask one simple question: "How does this serve what is Good, True, and Beautiful?"
And if it doesn't, then why not? Who and what does it serve?
