Ok, it is interesting, but the solar panel idea will be tough for smartphones since they're mostly sitting inside front pockets.

I'm sure it could be done right now with limited capabilities on the phone. Like if the phone could only send and receive text messages and no picture messages. If it could play no games and have no web capabilities. Basically a glorified pager.
