They use CCA wire for transformers, and don't even solder the connections inside anymore. It's just a wrap with some solder on the connecting wire to stiffen it - but solder doesn't stick to aluminum so there's no electrical or mechanical connection other than the tape on the transformer. It literally just pulls right off.

A bunch of APC power strips and UPSes got pulled from medical establishments around the nation a few years ago. Seems like they were recalled due to fire.

Yeah these blow out all the time Whenever a building does "scheduled power maintenance" I figured out if I don't unplug all the ups, they will blow out

Which sucks, because APC used to be the top-tier in UPS equipment. I still have a bunch of those old back-ups running stuff here.
