China will do exactly what Russia did and just develop new domestic industry as a response to these sorts of sanctions. That, along with the inevitable loss of Taiwan to China puts America in a desperate position similar to Britain around the time of Suez when the end of their empire became inevitable. The world is changing fast, in 20 years I think the petrodollar will be gone and chip manufacturing will be dominated by China.

There's some good analysis in the comments. The one point that probably plays the most is that Huawei's consumer divisions were long since spun off, and that's where the ban really hits hard. Switching equipment doesn't care what's inside as long as it does it's job.

I think the us should fully embrace our death. We are clearly on a slide we won’t recover from. Less of a slide more of a free fall. It’s like I tell my bleeding heart liberal koolaid drinking sister. (She works in lobbying). “Sister, I’m not saying you shouldn’t fuck this country for money; this country is like an airplane. It’s on its way down. We’re screaming towards the earth at 500 miles per hour, or however fast planes fly... You mine as well raid the food cart.” Iv wasted enough of my energy holding out hope. If one person can name a single aspect of this country on the up and up I might change my tune but I bet you can’t. The news is all bad. It’s ok, we had a good run. No shame in that
