You'd be surprised where the bottleneck with your laptop occurs. Most think a good graphics card is all you'll need, but their games still run poorly even with a decent one, at least that was my experience.
My new laptop doesn't even have a dedicated graphics card, but with 16GB of RAM on tap, it's much faster and capable that my other machine.
Lots of RAM in new laptops is something I'm looking forward to.
