Just started reading but isn't this the time when Vitalik reversed the entire lot of transactions so the money was totally returned. Many weren't happy with this and henceforth ETH Classic was created where this hacker kept the funds. For many savvy ppl this was the be all and end all proof that ETH wasn't actually decentralised at all and in reality totally controlled by literally one little junky looking faggot.

Yes. Don't half of nodes have to agree, though? Or at least any group can do a fork, but people vote with their feet which is reflected in the exchange rate, right? But yes very odd to hard fork just to refund one group who got scammed.
