I'm looking to get a home NAS in replacement to an old prebuilt server. I want to be on all the time and quiet.

I'm looking at either getting a 4 bay synology or 4 bay Asustor locker.

I don't want to build my own right now. I want this to sit quietly in the living room not suck up a lot of power.

Go to the Goodwill and find a router with USB ports that can be flashed to DD-WRT. https://dd-wrt.com/support/router-database/ Get a USB 4 bay SATA dock.
