It doesn't sound like you've thought about the implications. They are huge. The historical perspective doesn't apply because there is no historical relevance.

For example, a country's GDP is inversely proportional to the cost of energy. What happens to economies when all economies have low cost energy? Suddenly energy is no longer a barrier for entry. Which in turn ripples everywhere.

That's nothing like a saddle maker moving to make car seats.
