This will catch fire quicker than a LG battery in a Chevy Bolt.

Even if you have supercapacitors in the car (which can charge in no time), how do you deliver that much power to the car via the charging cable? Gasoline holds an enormous amount of energy per gallon.

The real solution likely involves a battery pack you can slide out. Then charging time is irrelevant. Naturally rather than own you'd rent it (and be happy).

Fuck interchangeable batteries that you don't own. I don't want someone else's used shit that they didn't take care of.

just a bad technology all together. charging a storage like a battery is very inefficient. think of all the extra coal plants needed to charge the worlds cars

The argument is that a coal plant is more efficient than a small engine in a car (power distribution is surprisingly efficient). Also electric gives flexibility in source of power. If one has solar panels at home, then it's pretty off-grid. You could have an electric vehicle for your house in the middle of nowhere.

I think that the weight of batteries is the biggest problem. That must impact efficiency significantly, carrying around so much dead weight.

and the slave labor lithium mines .. in afghanistan.. that china now has.
