True you have a point. I really wish RGB was adopted here by the early companies like RCA, or Sony. But instead of SCART, I would prefer straight BNC connectors to each signal, or simply use VGA.

But we aren't living in those times, they used earlier regulations to do things right, to hook you into accepting regulations. Over the years they slowly incorporated control into the regulations, now they do it for pure control.

What's the point of doing this when there will likely be a new USB connector in some years? Imo, it is about control. This is the bait.

So that we don't have to purchase branded conversion equipment just to charge our older but still-functional equipment I suppose. Again, consumer protection from a corporate world gone mad with the lust for total market control.

There is no difference between corporate or government. Also there does not need to be any more regulations.

The Bill of Rights is a list of regulations. Regulations on government or large corporations I can accept. Because I'm not a prescriptive dunce.
