I'm comfortable with letting AI make the call on drone defense. It's not like it's a ground level machine gun that could blast a friendly going to take a piss. Worst case you waste a flock of birds. According to my buddy in the navy it already happens. The Phalanx CIWS smokes the occasional pelican that dives a little too much like a sea skimming missile. I really think the solution to this is going to be more low tech. Bring back barrage balloons with nets tired between them to create a no drone zone.
