"Misattribution" != "false information".
Thanks for heads up. I didn't realize it was misattributed.
That's their biggest trick. Find some insignificant detail. I was searching for something about Joe Biden then was going to say they DEBOONKED it because his name is Joe Biden Jr., When I came across the perfect example.
Joe Biden Jr. Have a eulogy to Robert Byrd, a member of the KKK. Reuters claims that it was DEBOONKED because the email said Byrd was a Grand Wizard. Turns out his actual titles were "Kleagle and Exalted Cyclops". So, the "fact check" acts like he wasn't a FUCKING LEADER OF THE KKK because the original story got minor detail wrong. Eighty percent of 'fact checks' do this.
Yup.
There's another trick they're playing though; using controlled opposition to push minor instances of false information, to poison the argument and allow the 'debunking' of the entire topic.
