It's a decent option if you want to cover a good sized property from a single access point. You'll want to be cognizant of signal strength - external antennas provide great gain, but you will burn out RF cards on the access point if you put a high gain antenna on your access point, plop a laptop 5' away, and deafen it with a -30dbm signal for months.
