I'm convinced all VPN's are honey pots. Prove me wrong.

[–] 11 pts

The internet is a honey trap. VPN’s offer a modicum of protection, but will hand over your data as fast as any other company.

[–] 4 pts

Why are they collecting data to begin with?

[–] 4 pts

Even a VPN needs to store data to function. Want to have accounts, need to store data. But yeah, I get your point.

[–] 0 pt

most promise they don't keep any data. But I assume we just have to trust them at their word.

[–] [deleted] 8 pts

They are and always have been. I got vyprVPN in 2010, and started torrenting. Got an email within a few days saying, you downloaded these movies, delete them.

They touted no tracking or logging, but obviously that's a lie if they sent me that email.

[–] 5 pts

I've torrented many times with PIA (ditched after jew takeover) and never had a problem.

I've torrented many more times with Windscribe and never had a problem.

https://torrentfreak.com/best-vpn-anonymous-no-logging/

[–] 2 pts

You probably had your P2P client misconfigured, your IP doesn´t show up when you torrent over a VPN, milions of people do it daily.

[–] 2 pts

I torrent regularly with Nord. I got notices when I used domestic (5 eyes) servers. I've since gone to foreign countries outside of most spying programs without issue.

Also idk wtf this post is about. Maybe mobile Nord? My desktop Nord runs without issue.

[–] 3 pts

I can't. If you're doing some shady shit then VPNs will not protect you.

[–] 0 pt

If you're doing some shady shit then VPNs will not protect you.

correction: may not

it depends on the VPN and their logging policy - if they don't log then they cannot connect the user to an IP address even if they wanted to ... but you can never know for certain what they're doing or not doing

[–] 1 pt

All VPNs are honeypots because if you don't agree to being a honeypot you will get raided and shut down. https://archive.is/52tMS

[–] 1 pt

VPNs are a huge scam. They constantly advertise that they can magically prevent everyone from tracking you online somehow. Yeah no sorry, simply hiding your IP address means nothing. Everyone uses sites that require you to login. Once you login to a site they will track what your user account does regardless of whatever IP address you happen to be coming from. If sites didn’t work that way then they would stop working the second your IP address changed, which happens naturally all the time whenever you use a phone over a cellular network or even if you only use home internet, which often changes your IP regularly anyway. They all need to be sued for false advertising.

[–] [deleted] 1 pt (edited )

I both agree completely with you, and also disagree in certain parts.

VPNs can still be helpful in the following cases:

  • On licit websites where you don't need to set up an account and which rely on locational data (which, yes, can be a limited number of situations).

  • On licit websites where you do require an account, which doesn't actively restrict VPN usage, but where the only IP address the website has knowledge of is the VPN's IP address (which, again, may be a limited number of situations).

In the latter instance, a VPN offers a level of pseudonymity, based on how trustworthy the VPN company is. Depending on jurisdiction of the VPN server connected to, individuals can even use the client to access legal rights that people of other countries have access to.

[–] 1 pt

I feel like using a vpn then logging in is kinda on you. I mean. Of course you’re not gonna be anonymous when you log into your account. That seems self defeating

[–] 0 pt

simply hiding your IP address means nothing

it does if your torrenting, or don't want a site to get your location, or don't want the recipient of an email to get your location, or want to view content that isn't accessible in your location, or don't want your ISP to know what sites you visit, or....

[–] 0 pt

You are so hilariously retarded.

[–] 0 pt

Lol, what?

You don't know how any of what you are babbling about actually works.

[–] 1 pt

Wtf nothing I said was remotely disputable you tard.

[–] 0 pt

VPNs are to hide your IP and geolocation from the destination site, at the Network level.

Not logging into your accounts for browser cookies and using uBlock Origin to break site-to-site tracking from common 3rd parties is the users responsibility, at the Application level.

[–] 0 pt

ive tested it pretty hard. not busted yet

[–] 8 pts

You've seriously breached your own security by trying to do anything needing real security on a phone. The whole fucking system is owned by google. Oh no, chrome opened. You're whole phone is chrome.

[–] 0 pt

This!

I love listening to drooling morons making fun of other morons for having a "smart" speaker in their home. They ALWAYS have either Google or Siri in their hand while they rant about provacy.

[–] 4 pts

I log in without a browser. I don’t have chrome on my machine.

What now?

[–] 1 pt

ALSO : no app needed with secure VPNs like ExpressVPN (based in carribean).

NO APP NEEDED if you type lots of fields into mac OS or Linux for VPN

No sneaky mystery code running if you need piece of mind, if you use ExpressVPN

Its the most expensive VPN of the three I use, but its the only big trusted one that never has been hacked, or negative info in news.

[–] 0 pt

How much does it cost

[–] 1 pt

ExpressVPN is bad, theyre the McDonalds of VPNs. Even though I like McDonalds. Search Torrent Freak for dirt on VPNs giving up users data and legal cases

[–] 0 pt

Only 99 dollars for 15 months (they have sales now and then) and you get every single day of it in a deal.

Or the normal price of 99 dollars for 12 months, most of the time.

The reason i think its expensive is because i use many paid vpns , each for different things on different machines and cannot link them together by mistake, and I use ExpressVPN as a soulution when the shitty hacked untrusted VPNS like nord are blocked by google Captcha or blocked by anon emailers.

Express VPN always has a few new IP exit points that work that are not on a blackhole list used by google/banks.

Now that I typed that... some fbi fed will ruin that avenue.

[–] 0 pt

Probably between 4 and 7 dick pics.

[–] 1 pt

You will be forced to upgrade the client at some point.

You will be logged out, and the only way to log in will be through chrome browser integration, AKA whole OS telemetry now passing to Nord, AKA pointless to even have a VPN anymore.

[–] 2 pts

You will be logged out, and the only way to log in will be through chrome browser integration

Full refund time, then. I don’t use Chrome and never will. They can’t modify my contract of service without my permission, so if they attempt this with my hardware they’ll be refunding my remaining time with them.

[–] 0 pt

Considering the aggressive marketing I imagine this was the idea from the start, lose money on advertising/user acquistion then start ramping up the tracking.

[–] 0 pt

Update us when it happens, please. Curious of the timeline on this particular drag net as it squeezes in.

Clearly shows Nord is pozzed and now part of the alphabet collection for sure, if it wasn't before. Not intentionally even - unintentionally simply by capitulating to lazy software development and giving CIA-Alphabet-Jewgle the keys to the kingdom.

Evil is evil, intentional or otherwise.

[–] 0 pt

you do not need a client app to connect to ANY semi-respectable VPN

[–] 0 pt

This is correct, no browser is needed for log in with the most current version of nord.

[–] 3 pts

I like the email.

[–] 2 pts

I can see not many peps are IT people, here it goes:

-Get prepaid visa card, register it under some fake name to be able to do online transactions use it to get 2y Nord VPN -Do not use NORD app, but export OpenVPN or WireGuard config -do not use Nord with your regular PC where you pickup gmail and talk via whatsup -create virtual machine or some container and install above connections, have a raspberryPi permanently connected off the normal home network -Only use set of separate fake identity and email accounts on your VPN setup, do not use even once your public gmail, etc.

have another configuration and account for public setup, readup on interent security.

[–] 0 pt

No need to register a visa gift if you use the far more secure (never ever hacked in the past, like Nord) ExpressVPN

ExpressVPN also allows bogus zip code not set to the visa card at all, and processes it like a merchant POS account purchase.

TOTALLY 100% anonymous setup and use on the most secure vpn ExpressVPN.... though its the most expensive.

[–] 1 pt

no app needed with secure VPNs like ExpressVPN (based in carribean). No app at all.

NO APP NEEDED if you type lots of fields into mac OS or Linux for VPN, though their app is more convenient for novices to use to connect with.

No sneaky mystery code running if you need piece of mind, if you use ExpressVPN

no logs over a day with ExpressVPN

No email to set up, no identity at all to setup and pay

you can even use a gift visa card without ever setting up its zipcode

[–] 0 pt

DD-WRT supports OpenVPN, I have a router that I have my VPN setup on for devices that don't want to connect to my home IP.

I wouldn't use any VPN service that I see advertised. Also, I only trust companies based out of the Netherlands. If I got to buy cannabis seeds or usenet/vpn services I always look to do it there.

[–] 0 pt

only trust companies based out of the Netherlands

Nord got hacked in the past , for months , and its in europe and hires shitty engineers.

Netherlands opens up you to EU law and spying and DMCA stuff

Netherlands is almost the last place you want a vpn company

You want a company set up on a little carribean island with limited treaties for LEA.

[–] 0 pt

i never trust the os's von controls.

how does express know if you paid if you dont have an account

[–] 0 pt

it takes crypto coins, it takes pre paid upfront visa gift card you buy at drug store

it then generates a login keycode for you to use with their vpn, and you can use it on a few devices at the same exact time..... for a year

[–] 0 pt

That's clever, though vpn credentials are sort of an account so it's not much different from other providers that accept bitcoin when the app is optional.

[–] 1 pt

My neighbor's WiFi is the best VPN. Change my mind.

[–] 1 pt

you'll get 1 chance and when they get a notice you get kicked off the wifi

[–] 0 pt

Yes, piggy backing like a champ for the win.

Whats that, johnny law has turned up next door with the local internet/ telecom provider in tow ???... Time to turn off, turn out n pop my hard drive into the trunk and go visit my in-laws for some magnet fishing ....

[–] 0 pt

It opens chrome first? You have chrome set as default browser. Worse yet, you have Chrome installed like a normie faggot bitch.

You can set brokenurl as your default browser and esc out of the prompt, for example. https://brokenevent.com/projects/brokenurl

[–] 0 pt (edited )

i chrome is not my default browser and i have never used it on my phone unless an app tells me i can't use my primary browser

also, when i tap the overflow menu where it gives options to open in a different browser, it pretends to go to the new browser and instead opens chrome another time.

also i can't uninstall chrome from my normie faggot bitch phone.

i used chrome as my main browser from 2012 to maybe 2013 and i've never used it again. i have chromium as a backup since sometimes other browsers just won't work with shit and i need to get something done fast - and that's a rare occasion

Nord is a big company controlled-op, lots of jew funding. Of course it's ((( compromised ))).
