Assuming the deal goes through, which I doubt.

Why ARM went with a licensing model instead of controlling production directly will never cease to amaze me. They have left tons of money on the table for years. $418 million revenue in Q1 2020, while billions of devices based on their instruction set are sold.

When they made the first Nintendo DS deal they should have raised money and opened a fab then. Sad.

Because there's little money in fabrication and because the only place to do it is not-in-the-UK. I posit that ARM would not be the dominant IP if it hadn't gone to a licensing model.

WTF is ARM? NEVER let these nerds have POWER. They are the sorts who had few/no friends, and some of them pulled the wings off flies for FUN, and did wormy covert vindictive acts against those they disliked (boogers, spit slipped into food where they worked, etc). THESE sorts are NOT the mild mannered, shy, non aggressive sorts that never cause troublex (AVOID it), they are the ones who MAKE trouble. But alas, also have the TONS of time alone to study (probably for evil purposes) as the traditional (stereotype nerd).

ARM is the major processor maker.

I thought Nvidia and ATI (USED to my fave) now Intel (Right?) made their OWN processors/hardware? Those days over? I QUIT following it (thought I was hot shit) when I grew up and stopped being a consumer SLAVE to this sort of SHIT. I even USED to hand out at beyond3d.com.

How fucking old are you? Who talks/writes like that?

Also: Arm makes smaller, more efficient designs. Unlike Intel or AMD, they have opensourced most of their work, so that the entire industry can be better, and technology can move forward faster - in general.

Nvidia is ending that. They're capturing human progress for their own benefit. Fuck em. To death.
