Wait, you guys don't download codecs for Windows Media Player?
The latest update on Fdroid is a huge improvement. Almost like using something that isn't open source.
Use it every day and it is installed on every device. Best. Media. Player. Ever.
The mac VLC versions are all (each release) , buggy as hell.
People who use any hardware from Apple: you get what you fucking deserve.
I never have any issues that you speak of, and have zero concerns for privacy from VLC.
Windows SPIES on users!
Mac never spies and never sends telemetry or turn on your camera. Apple in 2021 does not yet spy on its users, like Microsoft does.
So what are you using?
Boxee (XBMC fork),KODI (XBMC fork),VLC,Boxeee Box (XBMC fork), DLNA server to Roku, Plex (XBMC fork) DLNA, Emby Premiere
WTF is wrong with you using a Mac? that gets a downvoat
Vlc the best IMO
I was using VLC to download vids from YouTube, but it won't let you do that anymore. Can anyone recommend some software. I get tired of going back to a video and it's been taken down. I have tried some of these sites that will download them, but not comfortable with them.
Looks old. Surprised something old is still working.
It seems that YouTube keeps on changing shit so things eventually stop work and you need to move on to new add ons, software.
Its updated every day except for a famous period of 14 days in 2020 when jew lawyers blocked uploads due to a URL in the source code for regression testing of semi-DRM music videos.
UPDATED YESTERDAY PROOF!:
https://github.com/ytdl-org/youtube-dl/
see? yesterday and today an hour ago source code updated
JewGles JewTube keeps trying to stop it every week, so every week it gets fresh updates.
I use youtube-dl commandline all the time to download ANY youtube video. It uses ffmpeg and other libraries to mux anything into mp4 stream files fit for any device to play back.
This commandline perfectly rips a 4K 60fps protected stream and creates a 720p 30fps mp4 version of it :
youtube-dl -f 'bestvideo[height<=720 fps<=30]+bestaudio/best[height<=720]' -o '/Volumes/MediaRips/Unsorted_Incoming/youtube/%(title)s.%(ext)s' https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pFs0Jag1Msc
That commandline example also renames the file with the UTF8 filename used from YouTube video title.
It also saves on download bandwidth by seeking desired bitrates.
VITAL:
Pro tip... open a real browser window to your video url and play a send of it in any format and hit pause... THEN use your commandline, to avoid youtube causing grief.
Get JDownloader: https://jdownloader.org/— constantly updated, works on everything, and has power-user settings up-the-ass . Pretty sure you can even write your own plugins for it; not that you'd need to, 'cause there's one for pretty much any site ever made, already. I have mine set so that when I copy+paste a youtube link, it'll automatically add it to my download queue, and I can choose to start the download whenever.
get a plugin for your browser.
there's a ton of them because that's a very desired function. for youtube and other (porn) sites...
You dropped these (())
Installing vlc right now
And you still can't click to pause/play in it.
I'm guessing they collect and share the paths and names of every video you watch.
D:\pr0n\donkey_midget_show.mov
D:\bowlingscores\oldleague\DonkeyRapesAmputeeMidgetTattooedbitch-scene4.2160p.mov
I used to have a tool that hid the porn stash on my family's computer from everyone. More than just setting the hidden flag, since my parents proved too smart for that. If I could remember the name, I'd like to learn how it worked. You can do some bizarre stuff with junctions in Windows that I know Explorer can't handle properly . Good times.
they collect a bunch of info on every file you watch with vlc. thats buried down 12 layers deep in the folders.
but they don't send it anywhere unless you agree to share it. it doesn't even try to open any connections unless you specifically allow / tell it to.
Thank you for making me feel ancient
I still can't figure out why these JeweyWood fucks still put copy protection on their shit media.
Remember when that guy sent the CEO of Sony a CD with the marker around the edge of the CD to defeat the copy protection that millions were spent to develop?
VLC is function over form. I like it.
If only the mobile version supported:
- Zooming/cropping during playback (like Samsung TouchWiz video player since 2011)
- Frame-by-frame navigation and still frame extraction (like Samsung TouchWiz video player since 2011)
- Custom rotation
- Playback statistics (e.g. current framerate and bitrate)
- Ability to play audio-only when opening a video (without opening video first)
