It's like bit torrent, but for your web browser. Instead of going to one server, you would be going to nodes as they call them. Like seeds in torrenting. So you would need find an ipfs search engine to find sites. If you have the latest version of brave, you can test it out by entering the following link in your url bar:
ipfs://bafybeiemxf5abjwjbikoz4mc3a3dla6ual3jsgpdr4cjr3oz3evfyavhwq/wiki/Vincent_van_Gogh.html
Hopefully it takes off and I'm sure there was significance in Brave updating their browser with this feature today.
Thank you so much for the reply. I do have the Brave Browser. I just migrated away from 'everything' Fire Fox. This is good news. I've read about some of the Pros and Cons of block-chain. What I read seems to indicate the speed and resources are not quite there yet. Do you have any insight to this that you could comment on? Have you tried it?
No, I don't know. This is all fairly new to me.
What the node network NEEDS is an easy way to translate web addresses for dummies like DNS hosts for the regular web
Problem is, that's exactly how were being censored currently
