Hyper Threading is now disabled starting with that generation.

it's now only 8 cores, 8 threads.

Core i9 still has hyperthreading. None of the other Core i processors do though. Intel pushes their seriously overpriced new model by stripping a feature from i5 and i7. AMD needs to take more than 30% market share, which is what it is expected to have with Ryzen by the end of 2018.
