There goes compatibility for legacy software.

Google solicits users to root their devices.

This is dystopian.

How will this impact PWAs?

[–] 1 pt

They store their information in the browser cookies.

They will keep working just fine.

Also, all apps still have access to their private folder in /data, as usual.

But since Android 11, the internal user data storage (mounted to /sdcard/ (misnomer, I know, but just kept in Android for legacy compatibility reasons) and also /storage/emulated/0/) is heavily governed by Google.

All the more reason to stick with PWAs then.

Fuck the app store, the fees, and the motherfucking chinese who flood it.

Have enough issues supporting apple and android as is.

You are not alone.

are some unsolicited changes on Android.

In case you are wondering why that legitimate and informative draft article got deleted from Wikipedia, within their absurd WP:G5 policy.

Let's hope the new phones running linux become available soon.

Absolutely.

Google has been removing tons of features and adding restrictions over the years that no sane user solicited.

Google should have given users the freedom of choice. But they often didn't.

They made Android more and more restricted over the years.
