Sounds like you've never had a project car before. I've had cars sit for years because I had to save up for parts, waiting lists for work on the cylinder heads, other projects, shit happens man. My bedroom is half filled with car parts because I don't have room for them elsewhere, and I have my own shop.
I think you can have a project car without trashing up your property and making an eyesore for the neighborhood, no?
And no, I wouldn’t fill any of the rooms in my house with car parts strewn about. I have a garage for that.
I’m just a meat and tidy type person. I know we all aren’t. My brother sounds like you. His house is a mess, inside and out. I still love him but I wouldn’t want his house near mine.
You run out of space real quick when you're a car guy.
I do understand things can get out of hand. But it truly is an effort thing.
A friend of mine, among other things, is a classic car collector. Over the decades, he’s bought bigger and bigger warehouses. I was over there last night helping him wire up a new trailer, and hadn’t been to his relatively new warehouse in a year. When he first got it, everything had a place. It’s roughly 10,000 sq feet, 2 stories. He’s got like 9 cars in there, a full mechanic shop, lifts, the whole nine. It was beautiful....a year ago.
I go there last night and it’s a shit house. Shit everywhere. His wife moved in all her coffee supply company supplies, his son has wood working equipment everywhere. Sawdust all over. But he can press a button and close all the bay doors. So his neighbors don’t have to see any of it. That’s kind of the difference, isn’t it. It’s HIS mess.
