It's a cultural thing. A lot of the influence in modern Mexican society comes from a bastardization of Spanish and local indigenous tribes (Aztecs, etc.). You see similar stylings from Cajun music (Zydeco).
I kinda liked the Mexican folk music they'd play at my off season job. Even the young folks listened to traditional shit. No nigger bop.
