That phrase has to be the greatest invention sociopaths ever made.
Just saw it used in a TV series and although it has always rubbed me wrong, it dawned on me how perfidious a psyop phrase it actually is.
It's not an apology. It puts the onus on the listener. It's lazy.
An actual apology requires some work.
Saying you're sorry, admitting it was your fault and promising to not do the same thing in the future.
Bonus step, asking what you can do to make it right, if at all possible.
