Shata Traders Inc. of Brooklyn, New York, has issued a recall for a 24cm milk pan made by Pakistan-based Majestic Chef after testing by the FDA revealed the product may be contaminated with significant levels of lead that can leach into food. The recalled milk pans were distributed in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Maryland, Virginia, and Massachusetts. The product is packaged in boxes of six, though individual pans are sold separately at retail locations.

You want cast iron, made in the U.S.A. For a long time, the best cookware came out of Germany, but fuck them. They have too many imports "working" there now.

Too bad it became "trendy" to get old cast iron a couple of years ago.

You used to be able to go to a flea market and get a ton of old (semi rusted) cast iron to rehab for dirt cheap. I think we have a few old pans that are probably near 100 years old that we paid less than ~20 for. Now those would sell for 10x that since it became "trendy".

Yeah, even new they were cheap not that long ago. Now when I look at the price of things I have to immediately override the thought of "this is so expensive" to "it's ok, this will last you the rest of your lifetime and will be passed down for generations".
