>Kroger has pulled two popular deli salads from shelves after a deadly listeria outbreak linked to a supplier.
The chain, the largest grocery-focused supermarket in the US, announced the recall of its basil pesto bowtie salad and smoked mozzarella penne salad, both sold in deli sections across multiple states.
The recall affects items sold between September 6 and October 2 in more than 1,800 stores in 28 states including California, Texas, Ohio, Washington.
Kroger said it has removed the products and notified shoppers through email alerts and in-store messages.
Customers are urged not to eat the salads and to return them for a full refund or replacement.
The alert came after supplier Fresh Creative Foods said its pasta ingredient provider, Nate’s Fine Foods, had warned the bowtie pasta was likely contaminated.
