Volkswagen Group is issuing a trio of recalls for its luxury brands Audi and Porsche, citing software issues that could lead to safety system failures. The largest batch affects 2021 model year Audi cars, with more than 44,000 vehicles potentially equipped with glitchy software in the gauge cluster. 'An instrument panel display that fails to show critical safety information, such as the speedometer or warning lights, increases the risk of a crash,' the notice on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said. In regulatory filings, Audi said it expects only about 2 percent of the recalled vehicles to actually experience the problem. Still, the recall covers a broad range of models from the 2021 lineup, including the A6, A6 Allroad, A7, A8, Q7, Q8, RS 6 Avant, RS 7, RS Q8, S6, S7, S8, SQ7, and SQ8.
