Probably heard them unknowingly, but I couldn't pick her out of a lineup or name a song of hers. I spent the early to mid 80s broke at engineering school listening to REM, The Talking Heads and Black Flag. MTV started out cool, but promptly turned gay so didn't watch it much either. Most of my free time was spent outdoors hunting, fishing, foraging and caving. Then poof - I was married, working for DOT, a father and broker than shit putting my wife through college while living in rural America. It was maybe 1997 before we broke that cycle, and we missed out on so much "culture" during those years. It was kind of baffling when we made that realization, but looking back I think our entire family is better off for it.
So yeah, I know Madonna exists but know next to nothing of her.
