When I was in the military in the 70s, when we went to the boonies to play hide and seek they gave us C-rations (the old olive drab green individual serving cans) that were marked made in 1954. We guessed they were left overs from a production run for the Korean war. They were edible, the best parts were small tins of jelly/jam and another of round crackers. Also came with not quite enough toilet paper, and a pack of 4 cigarettes.
